After losing to the Blazers again, the Kings are at their lowest point of the season

Calling this season dismal for the Sacramento Kings would be an upgrade from the horror show it's become. Things have gotten even worse after back-to-back losses to the Portland Trail Blazers, as the Kings are now dead last in the Western Conference and closing in on dead last in the league.

At this point, the 2025-2026 NBA season is 34% complete for the Kings. They have played 28 games so far with a record of six wins and 22 losses. That means Sacramento fans still have to suffer through 54 more games before they can breathe a sigh of relief and consider their life choices.

So far, the Kings have won only 21% of their games this season, which is a failing grade by anyone's standards. Using that percentage as part of a projection, the Kings may only win 11 more games in 2025-2026. That would give them a final record of 17 wins and 65 losses. Oof.

Assuming that projection holds out, and that might be a best-case scenario for the Kings, every other team in the Western Conference would have to suddenly do a lot worse for Sacramento to even slip into the Play-In Tournament. Then again, the Lakers did just lose to the Clippers somehow.

The Kings are at the bottom of the barrel

After back-to-back losses to the Blazers, the Kings are now dead last in the Western Conference. They used to be in 13th, but the Clippers picked up an extremely unexpected win over the Lakers, while the Pelicans are on a four-game winning streak. That all helped drop the Kings to the bottom.

On top of that, the Kings are last in the Pacific Division. Want to know something even worse? Sacramento is closing in on being the worst team in the league, a dubious honor to be sure. They are tied with the Pacers, with the Wizards being the only team in the NBA below them.

All it would take to push Sacramento into 30th overall would be a couple of wins for the Pacers alongside a bit of a run from the Wizards. Given that the Pelicans just won four games in a row, anything is possible at this point. Plus, the Clippers beat the Lakers, which is hard to accept.

Fans have reached the point where they are hoping the Kings are intentionally tanking the season. If this is Sacramento taking the NBA seriously and actually trying to win, that rebuild cannot come soon enough. This season certainly isn't going anywhere.
