5 Kings' players who will vibe with Darius Acuff on the court

It's probably not De'Andre Hunter.

The Sacramento Kings needed a new point guard, and found him in Darius Acuff Jr. In any other draft, Acuff would have been a top three pick. But the class was so loaded with talent in 2026 that he went seventh overall, which worked out well for the Kings. They have a rookie point guard to develop.

Now, the question is how Acuff is going to mesh with the rest of the current roster once the season starts. The front office is likely focused on him working with rookies and sophomores over veterans they're trying to move away from. And that's how things are already looking in Sactown.

Keegan Murray

After basically missing all of last season due to injuries, Murray is anxious to get on the court. While he might not be a rookie anymore, he is entering his prime and needs a point guard who can match his energy. That point guard is Acuff, who is all gas and no brakes. Acuff could unlock the dominant version of Murray's game fans have been waiting to see.

Maxime Raynaud

Calling last year a breakout for Raynaud might be an understatement. He is a modern, high-IQ center with a limitless ceiling on offense and defense. What Raynaud needs now is a young point guard with great court vision who can facilitate for him. That is definitely Acuff. Expect to see these two connecting on great plays all season long.

Dylan Cardwell

Another breakout center last season, Cardwell will lockdown the rim, collect the rebound, and take the lob for a brutal dunk. When that rhythm starts developing between Acuff and Cardwell, they could easily tear their opponents apart. Keep in mind that Cardwell was one of the better rookie offensive rebounders last season. If he continues on that path, Acuff will get a lot of offensive opportunities.

Jonathan Mogbo

A former Raptor, the Kings signed Mogbo to a two-way contract in the offseason. They took him to the Summer League, and he absolutely impressed everyone. The coaching staff will be looking to put him on the court with Acuff whenever possible to get a feel for how they work together, which will be productive. If that happens, the front office will get Mogbo on a full contract as soon as possible.

Emanuel Sharp

By all accounts, this rookie backcourt duo is already legit. Sharp is a lockdown perimeter defender with a deadly three-point shot. He will space the court for Acuff incredibly well, not to mention keep opposing guards off his back. Being rookies together will build a real connection between them, much in the same way is has with Raynaud and Cardwell. An Acuff/Sharp combo is dangerous.
