Sacramento Kings guard De’Aaron Fox wasn’t initially named to the 2023 NBA All-Star game rosters when they were first revealed. He was one of, if not the biggest, snub from the Western Conference, and in many ways it was embarrassing that the league failed to get him into the game.
Finally, things have righted themselves as the league announced three injury replacements to be added to the all-star game, selected by commissioner Adam Silver, including Fox. Along with Fox, Pascal Siakam of the Toronto Raptors and Anthony Edwards of the Minnesota Timberwolves were added to the all-star game rosters.
When Steph Curry was announced out with an injury thru the NBA all-star break, it was clear that his replacement in the game needed to be Fox. Adam Silver made the right call and because of that decision, Kings fans will see two of their favorite players taking part in the all-star game.
De’Aaron Fox set to play in first career All-Star Game
This is the first time Fox has earned this honor in his NBA career and it comes at the most logical time. He is having a career year in terms of shooting efficiency and putting up strong numbers across the board.
More importantly, he has the Sacramento Kings sitting near the top of a loaded Western Conference. Fox has been the most clutch player in the league this year and he continues to take games over in the fourth quarter. With the results of those tight games often being wins for the Kings, it was only right for Fox to get the honor this year.
He will make the exhibition game enjoyable for all NBA fans, not just those that support the Kings. This kind of game is built for players with his speed and quickness to put on a show and there is no reason to think he won’t do exactly that.
We could even see one of those ‘I’ve arrived’ moments if Fox gets the chance to do his thing in the fourth quarter. Hopefully, this is the first of many all-star appearances for Fox as a member of the Kings organization.
