There are not many positives that come from a situation like the current one, but we tried to find the silver lining for the Sacramento Kings.

There is an abundance of uncertainty and negativity surrounding the current situation around the world, and the same for the sports community and the NBA itself. There are not many positives to take from an unprecedented event like the one we are living through, but we’re going to try and take a stab at it as it pertains to the Sacramento Kings basketball team.

What was played of the 2019-’20 season was filled with adversity for the Kings, from on-court underachievement to mishandling of injuries. The NBA’s hiatus came at a time when the Kings were poised to make an unlikely playoff push over the last 18 games of the season, and that dream is likely over now that the completion of the regular season is in jeopardy.

But there are a few ways that the league’s stoppage actually helps the Kings if the regular season is to resume at any point.

#1. Bagley Appears Healthy

The situation surrounding Marvin Bagley and his injuries was one of the more negative aspects of the Sacramento Kings season. He played in a total of just 14 games and was average at best when he did participate. Adding to the disappointment was the Kings’ medical staff, whose updates on Bagley’s status were vague and often misleading.

It is likely that Bagley is the player on Sacramento’s roster that benefits the most from the shortened season. His first two years with the Kings have been rocky at best, given his injuries and the performances of those drafted after him. There were questions of whether or not the team should include him in their playoff race even if he was healthy, due to his inability to make the team any better when he was on the floor.

Now, Bagley has a chance to step away from the noise, and step into the gym to work on his rehabilitation and his game. Based on what we can see from his father’s Instagram account, the rehab process is apparently going smoothly:

Bagley doesn’t seem to have any issues elevating or putting pressure on his injured foot, which is a good sign for a guy who might have the depend on his athleticism a bit longer than one would hope. If there are no setbacks, then there is a high likelihood that Bagley will be ready for action when there is action to be had.
