Former Sacramento Kings point guard Mike Bibby is coming back to the California capital, and will hit the hardwood with his teammates this summer.

There are plenty of former Sacramento Kings players that still work for the organization to this day. Vlade Divac is the general manager, Peja Stojakovic the director of player personnel. Bobby Jackson is on the coaching staff and Doug Christie is the color commentator on the local telecast.

There is one more former King who will be making his way back to the California capital this summer, but his return will be on the court inside Golden 1 Center.

Former Kings point guard Mike Bibby is a member of the Ghost Ballers, a team in the BIG3, who announced their schedule and venues for the upcoming season earlier this week. On that schedule for the first time is Sacramento, who will be hosting the games on August 1st.

While Bibby is listed as the official captain of the Ghost Ballers, he is certainly not their most productive player. After averaging 11.8 points per game in the BIG3’s inaugural year, Bibby has scored a grand total of 23 points in 13 games over the last two seasons. It is now Ricky Davis who does the heavy lifting for the team after averaging 13 points per game in 2019.

Speaking of heavy lifting, have you seen Mike Bibby lately? He was always cut and muscular, but he has apparently taken his body sculpting to another level.

Aside from lifting weights and playing in the BIG3, Bibby has been in and out of coaching high school basketball in the Phoenix area. He recently left Hillcrest Prep after just two months on the job. He was previously coaching for his alma mater, Shadow Mountain, who he led to four straight state championships.

Bibby was one of the most well-remembered players in Sacramento Kings history, as he was the floor general and clutch leader during the franchises glory years back in the early 2000s. He averaged 17.7 points per game in his 6+ seasons in Sacramento, and shot a respectable 37 percent from deep. He was acquired in the summer of 2001 from the Grizzlies in exchange for Jason Williams.
