If the Sacramento Kings do decide to trade Bogdan Bogdanovic this summer, the main prize should not be a first-round pick in this year’s draft.

Due to the ramifications of a regrettable trade that the Sacramento Kings made with the Philadelphia 76ers in 2015, the purple and white will not be on the clock during the first round of this year’s NBA draft. Well, at least that is the case right now.

The Kings and their fans have already known of this consequence which has led to many rumors and possible solutions on how they can get a pick in the first round.

One of the rumors that have spread through the social media world has been whether to include Bogdan Bogdanovic in a trade that could get the Kings back in the first round. For the last two years, Bogi has been an asset for the Kings whether it has been with the starting lineup or coming off the bench.

This Would Be A Terrible Idea

I wrote an article about how the Kings should put Bogdan on the trading block to see what teams would offer for him. In my opinion, the Kings could definitely get a first-round pick in this year’s draft if they include Bogi in a potential deal. But this would be a mistake.

If the Kings trade Bogdanovic just for the sake of being able to draft in the first round next month, it would be a terrible move by the organization. What Bogdan brings to the Kings now is more valuable than what most prospects in this draft would provide for the upcoming season.

Plus, if the Kings were to get a pick for Bogdanovic, the pick will likely be around the middle or end of the first round. And in my opinion, this draft is pretty weak outside a handful of players.

Final Message To The Kings

I am not against trading Bogdan Bogdanovic. But if the Kings do decide to part ways with their Serbian star, they need to make sure they are getting good value in return. And to me, having a first-round pick being the main prize for trading Bogdan would be too risky of a move by Vlade Divac and company.
