The divorce was messy, but it might be wise for the Sacramento Kings to kick the tires on former player Isaiah Thomas.

The reserve spark plug the Sacramento Kings need to keep them above water when De’Aaron Fox sits might be an old fan favorite — Isaiah Thomas, yes you read that right.

I.T., who Sacramento drafted at 60th in 2011, hasn’t shown his physical strength since he injured his hip in the 2017 playoffs, but Thomas has shown us in the past he’s capable of beating the odds. He’s somebody who reaches his goals and is committed to coming back strong next season after a forgettable one with the Denver Nuggets in 2018-19.

It’d be a low risk, high reward move for Sacramento that could help the team and if the Kings were OK with using a roster spot on Caleb Swanigan and Bruno Caboclo in the last two seasons, then they should have no problem taking a flyer on Thomas.

Trending. What is Bogdanovic’s trade value?. light

A go-to scorer off the bench would help the second unit along and, as a result, the team as a whole. And if they want to reach their goal of making the postseason, then the bench must be solid. If Isaiah Thomas is able to regain his health, he would be a serious threat off the bench for the Kings.

The Celtics played great with Thomas running the show and I.T. plans on playing as much as possible so he can regain his All-Star-form.

Sacramento will have to be creative if they plan to use most of their cap money on a big name acquisition and this is a good way to do it and give a I.T. another shot with the Kings.
