Where does Sacramento Kings’ point guard De’Aaron Fox stand in the competition for this year’s most improved player in the NBA? Let us compare his season to some other candidates.
The Sacramento Kings’ season is now over, but boy, were these last seven months fun to watch for the team’s community.
Prior to the regular season, the Kings were projected to win just 25 games for their entire campaign. But as time has told us, the purple and white finished the year with a 39-43 record while earning the ninth seed in the tough Western Conference.
There are multiple reasons why the Kings are now a team on the rise. But a big reason for it has been because of the soar of De’Aaron Fox. This year, Fox made a big leap of improvement in his development. Taking on the role as the franchise guy, Fox was able to lead the Kings to become one of the more exciting offenses in the NBA.
In 81 games, Fox was able to average over 17 points and seven assists per contest while making around 46% of his shots from the floor and 37% from beyond the arc.
Analyzing Fox’s Season
Due to Fox’s leap of improvement, it has raised the question of whether he deserves this year’s Most Improved Player Award.
Compared to his rookie year, Fox increased his points per game average by 5.7 points, assists per game by 2.9 points, and rebounds per game by one point. He also increased every shooting-percentage category, including a 6.4% jump in his three-point shooting.
There is no question that Fox has made massive strides compared to his previous season and deserves to be in the conversation for NBA’s most improved. But who will be his competition for this award?
