Sacramento Kings: Buddy Hield Is A Lock For The Three-Point Contest

Buddy Hield is having an outstanding season with the Sacramento Kings, and he pretty much is a shoo-in for the three-point contest this upcoming February.

The Sacramento Kings have been a viable team this season due to their electric offense, and a big part of their scoring success has been because of their potent backcourt of De’Aaron Fox and Buddy Hield.

Obviously, De’Aaron Fox has been responsible for pushing the tempo and setting up his teammates for easy scores, but let us show some appreciation for the third-year pro in Buddy Hield.

Hield is another player on the Kings that has taken tremendous strides in his development. In 39 games this season, he is averaging 20.5 points (team leader), five rebounds, and 2.4 assists per contest while making 47.5% of his shots from the floor, 44.1% of his shots from the three-point stripe, and 85% of his free-throw attempts.

Comparing Buddy To The League

It has only been 39 games this year, but Buddy has been the ideal sharpshooter for the Kings, which is why I believe there is a strong possibility that he could represent the purple and white in the three-point contest which takes place during the All-Star weekend.

When comparing Buddy to his NBA counterparts, he has a legit case to make that he should be a participant in the contest. Right now, he is ranked third in the NBA in total three-pointers made (128), fourth in three-pointers made per game (3.3), and is fourth in three-point percentage (44.1%) for players who shoot five or more attempts per contest.

With eight players being selected to compete in the competition, it seems close to a shoo-in that Buddy will be part of the festivity based on the numbers

Final Thoughts

Overall, Buddy Hield is a legit weapon from beyond the arc, and his production this season definitely shows it. Hopefully, the NBA world has also noticed the strides that Buddy has made this year, and give him the opportunity for the chance to become the king of the three-point shooting contest.
