Sacramento Kings: Harry Giles Gains Confidence After Stockton Debut
By Rafe Wong
Recently, Harry Giles made his debut with the Sacramento Kings’ G-League affiliate, the Stockton Kings. And boy, did the Sacramento rookie make his presence known in the game.
The Sacramento Kings have been a pleasant surprise this season as they currently have a record of 7-6. But a minor surprise that the team did not hope to experience is the inefficiency of Harry Giles.
So far, it has been a bad rookie campaign for Giles. The former Blue Devil has only played in nine games out of 13 possible, and during those appearances, he is averaging just 3.6 points and 2.7 rebounds a night in under ten minutes of action.
Due to Giles being out of Dave Joerger’s rotation of players, he is currently with the Stockton Kings, Sacramento’s G-League affiliate, where he recently suited up for his first game with the team.
To the fortunate of the Kings and their fans, Giles balled out in his lone game with Stockton. In a game against the Agua Caliente Clippers, Harry was able to record 30 points and four rebounds while shooting 13-20 from the floor. Just the perfect game he needed to gain some confidence and swag back.
Can Giles Rebound From Slump?
It is unknown whether Giles will be in the Kings’ rotation when he returns with Sacramento, but his recent game with Stockton is an encouraging sign for the franchise. Since being drafted by the Kings, a lot of hype has surrounded Giles.
With Giles now being healthy, there is a good chance he will be a core piece with Sacramento during their massive rebuild. But if he cannot turn his game around in the upcoming future, his hype will die down and maybe his tenure with the franchise.
The 20-year old still has a ton of time to adapt to the NBA competition. But the Kings and their fans are hoping he figures it out sooner than later.
