Recently, photos have surfaced the internet which has shown what the new City Edition uniforms will look like for the Sacramento Kings. Let us just say that I am not a fan.

IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER: The City Edition uniforms were released by Nike and not by the Sacramento Kings. So if the uniforms end up being different from the ones listed down below, my opinion can change.

As NBA teams start to leak out their City Edition uniforms, it was still unknown what design the Sacramento Kings would have. But not too long ago, a leak from Nike showed the new uniforms that the Kings will be rocking for this season.

Listed down below are photos of the new City Edition uniforms for the Kings. As one can see, the design is almost identical from last year’s City Edition uniforms except with some minor altercations.

Some of these changes are that instead of their lion logo placed in the front of the jersey, it is now on their shorts while the front of the jersey says “Sactown”. Other than that, the color blocking and design are pretty much the same.

My Thoughts

Like I mentioned above, these uniforms are almost the same as the City Edition threads that the Kings rocked the season before. So because of that, this new design shows laziness from the team that designed these.

I mean, at least change the coloring of the uniform. Instead of powder blue, they could have made the main color royal blue which would also commemorate the franchise’s past as well. Or even change the entire colorway to black and purple which would honor the Sacramento teams that played in the late 1990s and early 2000s.

My Solution

In order for the Kings’ future City Edition uniforms to have more creativity, I think the franchise should start a contest where the Kings community designs the uniforms.

Kings fans from all over the world can have the opportunity to design what they think would make a great City Edition uniform for their team and submit it to the franchise.

Whichever design the organization (or fans) thinks is best from the submissions they receive will be the uniform the Kings rock for that specific season. They can have the contest during the summer prior to the campaign which means there will be a different City Edition uniform every year.

To me, this is the best and most fun way for the Kings to decide what their City Edition uniforms should look like every season.

Kings fans, if you all have a better idea than this one, please let the ARP squad know. Also, let us know what your thoughts are on the Kings’ newest threads by commenting on our websiteFacebook page, or Twitter account.
