Even though the Sacramento Kings signed Yogi Ferrell this summer, Frank Mason III is not giving up on making an impact this season.

When the Sacramento Kings signed Yogi Ferrell last month, it was expected that he would be a scoring spark and the backup point guard to De’Aaron Fox. Meaning a demotion for Frank Mason III.

Like most rookies, Mason went through ups and downs last year. At the start of his campaign, he was fantastic as he shot well from the perimeter and facilitated the second-string offense effectively. But when the year went on, he went through growing pains and finished the season on a mediocre note.

Mason Getting Ready To Cook

Although most expect Ferrell to take over as the second-string facilitator, Mason is not going to give up that easy. Not too long ago, he posted on his Instagram story that he was at the Kings’ practice facility early in the morning getting ready to train.

Final Thoughts

With the Kings making this upcoming season about winning, it is nice to see Mason is dialed in even before training camp.

In my opinion, I thought Mason had a so-so rookie year with the Kings as he did well running the offense and shooting the ball from deep. But he definitely needs to improve more.

I think for Mason to make strides in his sophomore year, he needs to improve on finishing better around the basket and being a nuisance when defending his opponents.

If Mason is able to get better in those aspects of his game, then the Kings could have a loaded group at the point guard spot.
