The Sacramento Kings have officially signed Yogi Ferrell, and the Sacramento community is ecstatic about the move.

The activity is starting to increase for the Sacramento Kings’ front office. A couple of days ago, the purple and white traded Garrett Temple to the Memphis Grizzlies in exchange for Ben McLemore and Deyonta Davis. Now, the Kings have officially signed Yogi Ferrell to a two-year contract worth up to $6.2 million.

Ferrell has been a feel-good story in the NBA. After going undrafted in the 2016 draft, he had to start from the bottom in proving to the NBA that he belongs in the league. In his rookie year, he played a couple of games with the Brooklyn Nets before being waived. He then was picked up by the Dallas Mavericks where he exploded into a solid asset for their team.

This last season, Ferrell as able to play all 82 games, and as a result, he averaged 10.2 points, 3 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per contest while shooting 42.6% from the floor and 37.3% from the three-point line.

Although Ferrell has been solid in his first two seasons, will he be able to produce for the Kings? According to most of Sacramento’s fans, they believe he will. Check out how Kings Twitter reacted when the recent Yogi Ferrell news came out.

Final Thoughts

Although this is not a huge free-agent splash, the Kings did make a move in adding more depth to the point guard spot.

My instant thoughts on the news: Ferrell has the potential to be a scoring spark off the Kings’ bench and will definitely be in competition with Frank Mason III for earning minutes as the backup facilitator to De’Aaron Fox.
