NBA Draft prospect Michael Porter Jr. canceled his scheduled workout for June 15.  Is that a sign the Kings are on him at pick two?

NBA Draft night is one week away.  On June 21, 60 prospects will have their NBA dream come true.  The Sacramento Kings currently have two selections.  They pick at second overall and again in the second round at number 37 overall.

Michael Porter Jr. is in contention to be selected by the Kings in the first round.  He created some headlines late Wednesday evening by cancelling his workout on June 15 in Chicago.  The Sacramento front office was expecting to attend and get a second look at the talented prospect.

Why it matters

Porter Jr. only played three games this season because of injury.  He had back surgery and teams want to see him on the court.  The Kings attended his workout last week, but getting a second look is essential.

Kings interest

Sacramento is on Michael Porter Jr.  If the draft happened right now, MPJ likely would not be the pick at two, but he is deserving of top five selection.  He is a scorer and combo forward, two desperate needs for the Kings.  Winding up with Porter Jr. on your team is a treat regardless of what pick number he comes off the board.

Final thoughts

Michael Porter Jr. canceled his Friday workout which the Sacramento Kings were expecting to attend.

The Kings front office is working hard scouting every prospect because they hope to come away with at least two talented players to add to their young core on June 21.  Keep it here for all the latest Kings draft content.
