The Sacramento Kings will be in attendance on Friday when Michael Porter Jr. holds an open workout for NBA teams as they search for their choice at second overall.

NBA Draft prospect Michael Porter Jr. faces an important day on June 8.  Porter Jr. played just three games in his NCAA career because of a back injury.  He had surgery, and that alone brought plenty of question marks to the talented forward.

On Friday, Porter Jr. is holding a pro day for any interested NBA team.  It is his chance to showcase that he is fully healthy and ready for the NBA.  According to Jason Jones of the Sacramento Bee, the Kings will be in attendance.

An option at pick two?

Before the injury, Porter Jr. ranked as the top player in his high school class for most of his senior year.  After Marvin Bagley III reclassified, some experts switched and put Bagley at number one.

Porter Jr. is a talent worthy of top five selection, so the Kings organization has to do their due diligence.  He is a fantastic fit in Sacramento as a combo forward with scoring ability.  Those are two areas of need for the Kings.  It would not be a stunning development to see their front office select Michael Porter Jr. at pick two on June 21.

Luka Doncic should be the choice, but perhaps the team feels better about developing another talented prospect.  Stay tuned.

Final thoughts

Michael Porter Jr. is holding his 2018 NBA Draft pro day in Chicago on June 8.  The Sacramento Kings will have representatives in attendance for the workout.  GM Vlade Divac should be chief among them.  The Kings have some level of interest in Porter Jr. at second overall, but the exact amount is unknown at this moment.

Porter Jr. is one of six players the Kings front office is looking at for that first round choice.  He is alongside Luka Doncic, DeAndre Ayton (likely the first overall pick), Marvin Bagley III, Jaren Jackson Jr. and Mohamed Bamba.  It would be surprising to see Sacramento stray from those six names on draft night.  The choice should become more evident as we narrow in on June 21, so keep checking back with us.
