The Sacramento Kings were defeated by the Portland Trail Blazers tonight due to the dominant performance by Damian Lillard.

The Sacramento Kings have fallen to a record of 17-37 for the season as they were defeated by the Portland Trail Blazers by a score of 118-100.

Game Summary

The beginning of the game was all offense. Both teams were efficient in getting the ball in the basket as Portland led 33-31 after one. For the Kings, they got most of their points scoring in the paint while the Blazers relied on their perimeter shooting. In the first quarter alone, the Blazers made seven three-pointers.

In the second quarter, both teams sizzled out a bit in their scoring production, except for Damian Lillard. The three-time All-Star was an absolute monster in the period as he made literally every shot he attempted. As a result, he scored 28 points for the half and had his team up 62-52 going into halftime.

A new half was in session for the game, but Dame remained the same. The Kings did what they could to defend Lillard better in the third quarter, but his fingertips were on fire. This led to him scoring 22 points solely in the third which had him at 50 points total for the game. Fifty points in THREE quarters… Kings trailed 92-74 after three.

The final period of the game started with Portland in full control for the win, but then Buddy Hield stepped on the hardwood. Coming on to the court with zero points for the night, Hield changed that quickly as he made five straight three-pointers to give Sacramento some life. Unfortunately, for the Kings and their fans, the Blazers’ offense remained efficient which closed the door for any type of come back to happen for the powder blue and red. They did keep Lillard scoreless for the quarter, however.

Next time the Kings hit the hardwood will be against the Minnesota Timberwolves this upcoming Sunday.
