Sacramento Kings at Oklahoma City Thunder game 43 preview

The Sacramento Kings travel to face the Oklahoma City Thunder on Jan. 15 in a regular season game.  This article previews that game from a Kings’ perspective.

The Sacramento Kings conclude their two-game road trip tonight against the Oklahoma City Thunder.  The Thunder are in prime playoff contention after adding Paul George and Carmelo Anthony last offseason.  Not to mention, the Kings have lost four straight games and are facing a shot at the number one selection in a loaded draft class.  It should be an exciting battle this evening.

Without further ado, here is the main thing to watch for and some final thoughts on the contest between the Sacramento Kings and the Oklahoma City Thunder on Jan. 15.

MVP vs. Top 5 pick

The Thunder will be running out the reigning league MVP and putting the ball in his hands a ton tonight.  We all know Russell Westbrook can not only stuff the stat sheet but play an attacking brand of basketball that can wear you out.  He faces an intriguing matchup tonight, though.

Lining up across from Westbrook will be rookie De’Aaron Fox.  Fox is finally getting comfortable in the league and starting to show signs of relentless attack himself.  It will be a challenging battle for Fox to guard Westbrook, but it is essential to know where you need to improve too.  If Westbrook scores 40 points and has a triple-double, that could be a wake-up call for 20-year-old.  Keep an eye on how Fox is faring against the MVP this evening.

Final thoughts

The Kings are struggling, but that means it is time to play the youngsters more minutes.  Sacramento has nothing to lose by opening up minutes for their young talent.  My colleague Eric Clark wrote about the improvements they need to make in the second half here.  Here is to hoping it happens.
