The Sacramento Kings have hired a new assistant general manager to replace Scott Perry. Kings fans, welcome Brandon Williams.
According to ESPN’s Marc Spears, the Sacramento Kings have hired the Philadelphia 76ers’ Vice President of Administration, Brandon Williams, as the Assistant General Manager to Vlade Divac. Williams will replace Scott Perry who joined the New York Knicks’ front office as General Manager and was an integral part in shaping Sacramento’s massively improved roster in three short months.
Who is Brandon Williams?
Williams went undrafted out of Davidson College before playing for the Golden State Warriors, San Antonio Spurs, and Atlanta Hawks. He was a member of the 1998-1999 San Antonio team that won the NBA title, sweeping the New York Knicks. Williams only appeared in 18 total games throughout his NBA career, garnering two starts with Golden State. He averaged 2.3 points and 1.0 rebound a game in his NBA tenure.
Resume Off The Court
The former Davidson Wildcat has taken his time to climb the NBA ranks. It started with a 2005 job in the NBA offices as a member of the Community and Player Program department. After balancing his job with obtaining his law degree from Rutgers in 2012, Williams then joined the 76ers’ G-League affiliate, Delaware 87ers, as their general manager in 2013.
He worked under the “Process” creator in Sam Hinkie in Philadelphia until his firing in 2016, assisting Hinkie with the 76ers as well as running the 87ers. Williams remained on staff, working under experienced general manager Bryan Colangelo.
