The Sacramento Kings selected Harry Giles at pick 20 in the 2017 NBA Draft.  This article gives the Kings a grade and a reaction to that pick.

The Sacramento Kings traded back from tenth overall to secure picks 15 and 20 overall from the Portland Trail Blazers.  They used pick 15 on Justin Jackson and now selection 20 on Harry Giles, a big man from Duke.  Below I give the Kings a draft grade for the pick plus my reaction to the choice.

Draft Grade- A+

Reaction

The Sacramento Kings continue to nail this draft with the selection of Harry Giles.  Giles is perhaps the ultimate risk-reward pick in this draft.  He was ESPN’s number one prospect coming out of high school in 2016.  Injuries have ruined the former Blue Devils chances to develop in recent seasons, but the talent is clearly there.  Check out his on-court ability in the highlight video below.

If Harry Giles can stay healthy, then watch out because he could be a star.  He profiles as a good defender and rebounder, a desperate need for the Sacramento Kings.  His offensive game is still a work in progress, but the athletic gifts are there for him to succeed.  To read more about Harry Giles’ game, check out his prospect profile found here.

This pick earned an A+ grade because the Kings secured perhaps the best talent in the draft at pick 20 overall if he can just stay on the court and continue his growth.

Final Thoughts

I cannot believe I am going to say this, but I love the Sacramento Kings draft so far.  They filled their three needs with their three first round picks and have a group of young talented players to build their roster around.  The Kings still have one pick remaining, but it has already been a great draft for Sacramento.
