Highs and Lows: Sacramento Kings Get Stumped By Wolves

The Sacramento Kings had a rough game tonight as they were defeated by the Minnesota Timberwolves by a score of 102-88. Listed down below are the highs and lows of tonight’s game pertaining to the Kings.

HIGHS

Ben McLemore: Ben McLemore was a solid contributor for the Kings in tonight’s game. For the night, McLemore scored 14 points while shooting 5-10 from the floor and 2-3 from the perimeter. It’s been refreshing to watch McLemore play in the last few weeks. He is now showing a gradual pattern of improvement in his jump shot and is feeling more confident in his role for the Kings as the season progresses.

Kosta Koufos: Kosta Koufos was efficient on both ends of the floor tonight. On defense, Koufos did a solid job in handling Karl Anthony-Towns when he had the chance. On the offensive end, Koufos recorded 14 points and 11 rebounds off 6-8 shooting from the floor.

Skal Labissiere: The 20-year Haitian continues to make strides for the Kings. For the night, off 14 minutes of play, Labissiere recorded 4 points and 6 rebounds off 2-4 shooting. The more opportunities Skal gets, the more he is able to showcase his potential. Since the All-Star break, Labissiere has excited Kings fan with his NBA development as he is getting better by the dribble. There is still a lot more that Skal can work on in his game, but so far, he is showing encouraging signs of being a solid player.

LOWS

Defending Karl Wiggins: The 1-2 punch of Minnesota which contains Karl Anthony-Towns and Andrew Wiggins overpowered the Sacramento defense tonight. For the game, the pair recorded 56 points, 21 rebounds, 4 steals, and 3 blocks. The two players might be young, but Timberwolves fans should be ecstatic about the duo as the team has a great foundation for many years to come.

Point Guards: Darren Collison and Ty Lawson struggled to find any rhythm on the hardwood. For the night, the pair of guards totaled 21 points and 11 assists while shooting just 10-26 from the floor. With no DeMarcus Cousins for the Kings, it means that players like Collison and Lawson are going to need to be efficient for the Kings on a nightly basis. But unfortunately for Sacramento, that wasn’t the case tonight.

Bench Play: The bench is usually an asset for the Kings on a consistent basis, but tonight they were a big fat dud. For the game, the bench for Sacramento recorded just 25 points, 18 rebounds, and 5 assists for the game. The Kings heavily rely on the reserves to give them a spark in games, but due to their bad play tonight, the purple and white struggled as a whole to score points.
