DeMarcus Cousins Suspended for Technical Foul Accumulation
By Tyler Watts
Sacramento Kings All-Star DeMarcus Cousins is suspended for one game because he has accumulated sixteen technical fouls this regular season.
DeMarcus Cousins earned himself two technical fouls in the February 6th loss to the Chicago Bulls. Not only did it result in ejection from the game, but further punishment came down today. Below is a video of his ejection in case you missed the action.
That second technical foul was already Cousins sixteen of the season resulting in a one-game suspension. Both technical fouls he received were upheld by the league office today. That will cause Boogie Cousins to be suspended for tomorrow’s game against the Boston Celtics.
Cousins Technical History
DeMarcus Cousins is the NBA’s current technical foul king. Cousins led the league in technical fouls last season and has accumulated 106 total technical fouls in his time in the NBA. This is only Cousins 7th season meaning he averages 15.1 T’s a season or in suspension territory each and every year.
This is a problem for the big man because it leads to ejections and suspensions. The Kings cannot afford to be without their star player for reasons he can avoid.
Trouble Going Forward?
The Kings have only played 52 games this season and Cousins has already earned 16 technical fouls. That means he earns a technical every 3.25 games. That could create a big problem going forward.

For every two additional technical fouls DeMarcus Cousins receives this season, he receives a one-game suspension. There are 30 games remaining in the regular season and simple math tells you Cousins could receive quite a few suspensions if he keeps up his current technical foul pace.
Summary
DeMarcus Cousins will definitely miss Wednesday’s game against the Boston Celtics because he received his 16th technical foul on Monday night.
The big man could receive a lot more suspensions if he does not get it together on the court and stop getting technical fouls. Let us hope that the suspension is the deterrent Boogie needs to stop all the business that keeps getting him technical fouls.
