Kings Waive Joey Dorsey, McGuire Out For Season

AUTHOR: Bryan | IN: Kings, Players | COMMENTS: None Yet

With only 8 games left on the schedule, the timing of the move was odd to say the least, especially with Brockman, May, and Hawes all nursing injuries of some sort…but yesterday evening news broke that the Kings waived Joey Dorsey who was acquired from the Houston Rockets in the Carl Landry/Kevin Martin trade. Dorsey didn’t play much during his short stay in Sacramento, but, he did provide a nice “banging” presence off the bench, be it a limited sample size.
According to Wojo of Yahoo Sports, the Kings felt Dorsey’s “clownish” behavior was starting to rub off on fellow players [...]

Andres Nocioni Requests Trade

AUTHOR: Bryan | IN: Players, Rumors | COMMENTS: None Yet

I’m not sure if I should laugh at this or what. No worries Noch, we want you gone much worse than you want to be here – trust me on that my little Argentinian chucker.
This is at least the third time in the past year that you’ve pissed and moaned your way to the Argentinian press, most likely assuming that we dirty Americans can’t translate your fancy ways.
If there is anything about Paul Westphal that players would love, it’s that he plays guys that go out there…play smart…play hard…and do the right things on and off the court. You know, [...]

Embarrassment Hits New Low – Nets Clobber Kings

AUTHOR: Bryan | IN: Game Recaps | COMMENTS: None Yet

I guess I’m expected to write up something about the game, but really, what can I write? The Kings, short Tyreke Evans, were just destroyed by the Nets. There isn’t anything else one can say. They looked disenchanted…bored…and interested in being there as a gay man at the Snapping Beaver strip club.
I was lucky enough to have the Nets broadcast for the game on League Pass and it was somewhat nauseating that the Nets were “up” for this game as they considered it a very likely win…which speaks volumes to the respect, or lack of, the Kings have around the [...]

John Thomas Out As Kings President

AUTHOR: Bryan | IN: Kings | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

Yesterday it was announced that long time President of the Sacramento Kings, John Thomas, was being bought out by the Maloofs, ending his near 11 year stint with the Kings organization. Thomas was brought over from the Rockets when the Maloofs purchased the Kings and is responsible for some of the most premier moves the Kings have made (business decision wise), such as securing a 10 year television deal with Comcast. However, rumors have it that the Maloofs became unhappy with some of Thomas’ recent decisions (one example would be his desire to keep ticket prices where they were at, [...]

Tyreke Evans Out With Concussion and Possible Fractured Jaw

AUTHOR: Bryan | IN: Game Recaps, Players | COMMENTS: None Yet

Well King fans – if you don’t believe in curses, you might want to get a voodoo doll. The Kings star Point Guard and potential Rookie Of The Year left Friday nights game against the Milwaukee Bucks with only a minute and a half or so remaining due to serious injuries to his mouth and head.
Kings Power Forward Carl Landry and Bucks Forward Ersan Ilyasova battled for a potentially game ending rebound, which would have all but insured a King victory, and knowing so – Evans entered the battle for the board. Unfortunately, Ilyasova’s elbow caught Evans flush in the [...]

Local Hero Sam Amick Leaving Sacramento Bee

AUTHOR: Bryan | IN: Kings | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

I often referred to Sam as an icon – a local hero – a superhero of sorts. Of course, it was all in fun – but, it was speaking to his overall ability and great coverage of the Sacramento Kings.
Over my years in sports blogging, especially NBA, I’ve come to know quite a few people…especially beat writers from various organizations and I can without a doubt say that Sam was one of the best in the industry. He never let his opinion get in the way of the truth and always reported accurate facts, never slanting to prove his point. [...]

Tyreke Evans Triple Doubles His Way Past Raptors

AUTHOR: Bryan | IN: Game Recaps | COMMENTS: None Yet

On a night put on by the Kings to promote Tyreke Evans’ Rookie Of The Year campaign, the young point guard did not disappoint – nor did his fellow teammates. After a somewhat slow first half, Tyreke and the Kings dismantled our Canadian neighbors in the second half, storming the Raptors for 43 points in the third quarter. Yes, you read that right. The Kings scored nearly as many points in the third quarter as they did in the entire first half – and they didn’t stop the stranglehold in the forth quarter either, blasting the Raptors all night.
The stars [...]

Sacramento Kings News & Notes

AUTHOR: Bryan | IN: Game Recaps, Kings, Players | COMMENTS: None Yet

The Sacramento Kings came to terms with former Houston Rocket Garrett Temple. The Kings and Temple agreed to a 10 day contract to provide some guard depth (I guess?..lol). Temple is known for his solid, nagging defense and was a fan favorite in Houston during his short stay. He’s the all time leader in minutes at LSU.
Omri Casspi might have finally hit the rookie wall and he might be the first to admit it. Omri admitted he’s been having a difficult time with the grinding NBA schedule on his website the other day:
On a personal level, I feel that after [...]
