December 16, 2023; Sacramento, California, USA; Sacramento Kings forward Keegan Murray (13) | Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports

The Kings will try to win their fourth straight game at home tonight against the Wizards. Sacramento is coming off a solid 21-point win over the Jazz on Saturday, where Keegan Murray scored a career-high 47 points.

The Wizards will look to slow down Murray after coming off a tough four-point loss on Sunday night to Kevin Durant and the Suns.

Sacramento hopes to have star point guard De'Aaron Fox in the starting lineup tonight as he's listed as questionable. The Kings are 12.5-point home favorites tonight against the Wizards.

Wizards vs. Kings key players to watch

Washington Wizards

Daniel Gafford: The 25-year-old center is coming off his best game of the season against the Suns on Sunday night. Gafford had a career-high 26 points and 17 rebounds as the Wizards lost by four points. This performance from Gafford was a pleasant surprise for Washington, as he’s only averaging 10.7 points and 7.8 rebounds per game this season.

The last time Gafford had 20-plus points in a game was on April 5, 2023, against the Hawks (25 points). Gafford will try to build off last night’s performance against a tough Kings’ frontcourt that features Domantas Sabonis and Keegan Murray.

Sacramento Kings

Keegan Murray: The second-year forward was locked in on Saturday, scoring a career-high 47 points on 12-of-15 shooting from deep against Utah. Murray has been the perfect fit alongside Sabonis and Fox. He can score at all three levels while being a factor on the boards. This season, the former Iowa Hawkeye standout is averaging 15.7 points and 5.7 rebounds per game.

Wizards vs. Kings prediction and pick

After dropping a heartbreaker to the Suns on Sunday, the Wizards must dust themselves off and prepare to play the Kings tonight. Washington has lost seven out of their last eight games, with its only win coming against the Pacers last week (137-123). The Pacers don’t play defense, which helped Washington’s offense find momentum.

However, it will be a different story against the Kings, who are ranked 21st in points per game allowed (116.6) and 14th in DRtg (115.3). Sacramento has an explosive offense and hopes to have Fox back in the starting lineup.

The Wizards are 9-6 against the spread as a road underdog and 2-2 ATS when the spread was +11 to +14. Meanwhile, the Kings are 6-4 ATS as a home favorite this season. With both teams being ranked within the top 10 of pace, we will see points scored tonight at the Golden 1 Center. Therefore, I’ll take the OVER on the total instead of the spread.
