What's the Minimum NBA salary for 2024-25?
By Mat Issa
If you are on Twitter (I refuse to call it "X"), you have likely seen a tweet from Adrian Wojnarowski or Shams Charania about "X" player signing with "X" team on a veteran minimum contract. But have you ever wondered how much money that is? In this article, we go over everything you need to know about veteran minimum contracts.
How Much Is A Veteran Minimum Contract?
There are two important things to note about veteran minimum contracts. First, just like the salary cap goes up (nearly) every single year, so do veteran minimum contracts. And second, the amount a veteran minimum contract is worth varies based on the number of years a player has been in the league. So, a player with three years of experience will make a different amount on a veteran minimum than someone with seven years under their belt.
With those two tidbits in mind, here is how much players make on veteran minimum contracts in 2025. All the information in the chart below was taken from the invaluable website, Spotrac.com.
Years of Experience | Salary |
---|---|
0 | 1.16 million |
1 | 1.86 million |
2 | 2.09 million |
3 | 2.16 million |
4 | 2.37 million |
5 | 2.43 million |
6 | 2.61 million |
7 | 2.80 million |
8 | 2.99 million |

Sacramento Veteran Minimum Contracts
Now, to bring this back to our Sacramento Kings, we currently have three players on veteran minimum contracts. Those players are Orlando Robinson, Jordan McLaughlin, and Alex Len.
Robinson has two years of experience. He will make 2.09 million dollars next season. McLaughlin has five years of experience. He will make 2.43 million dollars next season. And Len has ten years of experience. He will make 3.03 million dollars next season.
Just because a player is on a veteran minimum contract does not mean they can't be a highly productive player. Last season, the Dallas Mavericks signed Derrick Jones Jr. to a veteran minimum contract, and he ended up starting in every playoff game for them during their Finals run.
I'm not saying that is what will happen with any of the three Kings players on veteran minimum contracts. But hey, you never know.
