The NBA Three-Point Contest is one of the events held each year since 1986 on the Saturday before the All-Star Game. It features some of the best shooters in the league, who try to make as many three-pointers from different positions on the court as possible in seventy seconds.
The contest first starts with a qualifying round in which each participant has a chance to score as many points as possible and secure a spot in the finals. The three players with the top scores move on, shooting once again to determine a winner, but this time in ascending order of their previously scored points.
At first, the maximum score possible was 30 points. In 2014, moneyballs were added, making the best possible score 34. As of 2020, when two Mountain Dew shots worth three points each were added and the time limit was raised from one minute to seventy seconds, the highest possible score is 40.
Some notable milestones
-Larry Bird, who won the first-ever contest, and Craig Hodges hold the record for most consecutive wins with three.

-Jason Kapono is the last back-to-back winner, beating his competition in 2007 and 2008.
