Two Western Conference contenders face off on Wednesday night with the Denver Nuggets and Nikola Jokic hosting the Sacramento Kings.

The Nuggets are in the hunt for the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference, but they need more losses from the Minnesota Timberwolves and Oklahoma City Thunder to take over the top spot in the conference.

Meanwhile, the Kings are coming off a bad loss to a Miami Heat team that was down several rotation players on Monday night.

This game will feature two of the game’s best big men (Jokic and Domantas Sabonis), who also happen to be triple-double machines this season.

Kings vs. Nuggets key players to watch

Sacramento Kings

Domantas Sabonis: Even in the Kings’ loss on Monday, Sabonis picked up a triple-double (14 points, 14 rebounds and 10 assists), his sixth in his last seven games. In two games against the Nuggets this month, Sabonis is 1-for-2 on triple-doubles, although the Kings have won both games. He scored 20 points and grabbed 13 boards in the last matchup between these teams.

Denver Nuggets

Nikola Jokic: There’s hot, and then there is whatever Nikola Jokic has done over the last three games. The two-time MVP is averaging 27.3 points, 16.7 rebounds and 15.0 assists per game (yes you read that right) in his last three contests. Since being held to just 15 points on 6-for-17 shooting against the Kings, The Joker is on a mission. Does that continue tonight?

Kings vs. Nuggets prediction and pick

Sacramento could pull off the season sweep of Denver, as the team has won the first three meetings between these teams outright.

Yet, it’s set as a 8.5-point underdog in this matchup.

The Nuggets are a tough team at Ball Arena, going 22-5 straight up and 13-13-1 against the spread, but that’s not exactly guaranteeing them a cover.

The Kings – to their credit – have been a better defensive team on the road, and that’s led to them going 10-6 ATS as road dogs this season.

I wouldn't be shocked to see Sacramento hang around in this game, but the status of Fox (questionable, knee) is going to be key.

Bettors may want to wait to see if he is upgraded throughout the day, but if he is this line may shift in favor of the Kings by a point or two. I don’t mind taking Sacramento as nearly a double-digit dog given its success against Denver this season.
