Move #2: Sign A Backup Center

While he has his fair share of flaws, Sabonis is still solidified as this team's starting center moving forward. What isn't so cut and dry, though, is the question of who will be his backup next season.

The two guys who took turns filling that role last season (Alex Len and JaVale McGee) are both set to become free agents this offseason. To be fair, Len and McGee performed admirably, but neither of them were world-beaters, which opens the door for the Kings to try and seek an upgrade.

The ideal backup center to Sabonis is one that gives you things the All-Star big man doesn't: rim protection and rim running/lob finishing. Len gave you the former (98th percentile block rate), and McGee provided the latter (nine career seasons with 80 dunks or more). However, the perfect next backup center would be able to give you a little bit of both.

The Kings likely won't want to use more than the Bi-Annual Exception (BAE) or a veteran minimum on said player. Given these salary constraints, some potential options could include James Wiseman, Jaxson Hayes, Jericho Sims, and Goga Bitadze (see tweet above).
