Team #4: Houston Rockets

The fourth team that should call about Huerter (and the third that is young with sound defensive infrastructure) is the Houston Rockets.

Last season, the Rockets finished ninth in defensive rating. But that mark undersells the amount of talent they have on that end of the court. Jabari Smith Jr., Dillion Brooks, Amen Thompson, Fred VanVleet, Jae'Sean Tate, and Tari Eason (among others) are all fierce and versatile defenders in their own right. Huerter's defensive responsibilities will be very manageable with all of them there to flank him.

Like all the teams we've already mentioned, the Rockets are going to need to add some shooting (23rd in 3-point percentage last year) if they plan on taking the next step as a team, especially if AJ Griffin really does decide to retire from basketball.

And unlike the other teams we've mentioned, the Rockets have a Domantas Sabonis-type big man in Alperen Sengun who Huerter can play off of in the dribble handoff game. So, the Rockets wouldn't need to change too much of their offense to accommodate for the addition of Huerter. It sounds like a no-brainer phone call to me.
