The Sacramento Kings want to compete for a title in the near future. They have made that clear already. Getting there won’t be easy, however, especially with how the roster is currently constructed.

This roster might not even get the Kings to a successful postseason appearance. If the season ended today, the Kings would have to fight their way through the play-in tournament, and it is not unlikely that the regular season will end that way.

Offense is what put the Kings on the map. That isn’t clicking right now, however, and the team also hasn’t made the strides defensively Mike Brown wanted to see. De’Aaron Fox, Keegan Murray, Keon Ellis, and Davion Mitchell are all active defenders, but that alone is not enough.

The Kings have to make moves this summer to take the next step, so let’s look at four Kings at risk of being traded this offseason.

4. Davion Mitchell

The Kings’ backup point guard is having his most tumultuous NBA season yet. His minutes and production decreased significantly and at one point he even fell out of the rotation.

The front office already made him available in trade talks earlier this year, hoping to get a deal done at the trade deadline. Since then, Davion Mitchell’s situation has changed drastically.

In March, he has been playing his best basketball of the season so far, getting to the rim, knocking down threes, and being a pest defensively. It is great to see, but that doesn’t mean he will be safe this summer.

By playing so well, Mitchell is increasing his trade value and could be an important piece in any package to bring a starting-level 3-and-D win to Sacramento.
