Bryce Simon: The Pistons Pulse & The Game Theory Podcast

A former Division I basketball player, Bryce Simon has been covering the Detroit Pistons and the NBA Draft for the last four years. This season, he began covering the league at-large alongside the venerable Sam Vecenie as the co-host of the Game Theory Podcast. Here is what he had to say about Carter:

""This is one of my favorite picks of the first round. Sacramento not only gets a player I had in my top 10 but one that fits nicely in the backcourt. Yes, there is already quality talent on the roster with Malik Monk staying with the Kings, but Carter's skill set is one that can fit with any of Monk, De’Aaron Fox, or Kevin Huerter (assuming he stays on the roster). Carter is an older prospect who had one of the more impressive two-way seasons in college basketball. Not only did he have an insane offensive usage where he played with the ball in his hands for the majority of the game, but he also showed his point-of-attack defensive abilities. His improved shooting numbers this season should allow him to play off the ball when necessary. However, it should be noted that this was a single season sample and a major jump from his previous two seasons. Even at his height, I think he has the physical profile and athleticism to defend at least two positions and potentially three. One final value that could be of interest is the impact he made on the glass, averaging over eight rebounds per game (as a guard).""
