Dud: Harrison Barnes

Harrison Barnes is not making it easy for Kings fans to like him right now. When De’Aaron Fox first suffered his ankle injury, many expected him to take on a bigger role and help Domantas Sabonis out as one of the team’s leaders on the court.

Instead, he has been very quiet, and last night was no different. He finished the game with 4 points, shooting 1-8 from the field and 0-4 from three, 4 rebounds, and 1 assist in around 26 minutes of playing time.

That is by far the worst production of any starter and the fewest minutes. Even Keon Ellis, the second-year two-way guy, played more, and rightfully so. Barnes was a non-factor in this game, and it raises questions about his value.

If he is not making shots or impacting games in any other way, what does he offer the team other than a veteran presence in the locker room? He might be lucky that Kessler Edwards and Chris Duarte didn’t play much last night.

Coach Brown has trusted him so far, but if he continues to have no impact on games someone else might get a chance to take over his minutes.
