Man, who could ever forget Isaiah Thomas? The final pick of the 2011 NBA Draft turned out to become quite the basketball player.
Like Whiteside and Del Negro, Thomas' best years came after he left Sacramento (that seems to be a recurring theme with us). However, his years with the Kings were better than anything those two put together during their entire careers. In three years and 216 games (153 starts), Thomas averaged 15.3 PPG and 4.8 APG on 57.4% true shooting (+3.8% better than the league average during that time), all while stealing the hearts of everyone who watched him.
After Sacramento, Thomas spent a half year with the Suns before being traded to the Boston Celtics – the place where he put together the best stretch of his career. In Boston, the 5'9 guard climbed all the way to fifth in MVP voting during his iconic 2016-17 season (when he averaged 28.9 PPG and 5.9 APG on 62.5% true shooting).
Unfortunately, a nasty hip injury derailed Thomas' star-studded career. Since then, Thomas has bounced around the league on teams like the Cleveland Cavaliers, Los Angeles Lakers, Denver Nuggets, Washington Wizards, New Orleans Pelicans, Dallas Mavericks, and Charlotte Hornets. Most recently, he appeared in six games last year for the Suns.
Hey, at least he gets to claim that he's the best second round draft pick in Kings history.
