Since the NBA moved to a two-round format, it is rare that good players are selected in the second round. But every once in a while, you get a second round pick who really pops (you ever heard of a guy named Manu Ginobili).

So, in honor of those second round snags, let's look at the Sacramento Kings' three best second round picks since 1988 (which is right around the time the NBA moved to their two-round format).

(Sidebar: For this article, we are going to be looking at both the career they had for the Kings and for other teams, with more weight being placed toward their tenure with the Kings.)

3. Hassan Whiteside

Career Stats (511 Games): 12.6 PPG/10.8 PPG/0.6 APG/0.5 SPG/2.2 BPG on 60.2% True Shooting

Stats with Kings (55 Games): 5.9 PPG/4.6 RPG/0.4 APG/0.2 SPG/1.1 BPG on 55.3% True Shooting

As you can see from the statistics we have listed above, Hassan Whiteside did most of his damage outside of his time with the Kings. But Sacramento was still the team to take a chance on him.

After being selected 33rd overall in the 2010 NBA Draft, Whiteside only played 19 games in two years. From there, Whiteside played overseas in Lebanon and China before returning to the NBA to play for the Miami Heat. It was there where Whiteside did most of his damage, playing five seasons with the Heat and averaging 14.1 PPG, 11.9 RPG, and 2.4 BPG during that time.

After his stint with the Heat, Whiteside played a season for the Portland Trail Blazers, the Utah Jazz, and the Kings (again).

Whiteside isn't higher on the list because he only played 10.8% of his career games with them, and they were far from his best years.
