8. Richaun Holmes
Richaun Holmes is a much more recent member of the Kings than the last player on this list. He started his NBA career as a late second-round pick by the Philadelphia 76ers in 2015.
In 2019, he came to Sacramento as a free agent, quickly became a starter, and had the three best statistical seasons of his NBA career with the Kings. When Domantas Sabonis arrived in Sacramento, Holmes’ minutes decreased, and he was moved to the bench. In the 2023 offseason, the center was traded to the Dallas Mavericks and then had to move again when the Mavericks made a deal with the Wizards at the trade deadline.
When thinking about the greatest Kings players ever, Richaun Holmes is probably not one of the players that comes to mind. He put up good numbers in a Kings’ uniform, but the team was losing, and he was more of a placeholder for Sabonis than a part of the team’s core.
When it comes to Player Efficiency Rating, Holmes ranks eighth in franchise history with an 18.9 rating, however. He also ranks tenth in blocks per game, and first in true shooting percentage and effective field goal percentage. So, it may not seem like it, but statistically Richaun Holmes is one of the best players in Kings’ franchise history in several categories.
