Precious Achiuwa always seems like one of those players who is on the verge of greatness in the NBA. Yet, he never quite seems to get there.
Part of the problem is that he's a good guy to have on the team but he also makes great trade fodder. Because of that, he has played for the Miami Heat, the Toronto Raptors, and the New York Knicks since being drafted in 2020.
Now, Achiuwa is an unrestricted free agent looking for a new home. Though the Heat are showing interest in bringing him back, but the Kings should be paying attention, too.
Precious Achiuwa's game is solid
The strongest part of Achiuwa's game is his defense, something the Kings desperately need. He is a high-energy defender who is known for his work on the perimeter.
Additionally, Achiuwa is a reliable rebounder who has averaged 5.7 per game in the regular season over his career. Someone who can provide roughly six rebounds on a regular basis is not to be ignored.
Offensively, he isn't as consistent. What Achiuwa is known for are timely baskets that change the flow of the game. He's the kind of guy who finds net when a team need him to the most.
Achiuwa could be a boon to the Kings
A strong perimeter defender is exactly what the doctor ordered for the Kings. Plus, the team needs more experience and depth at the power forward position. When he locks in on defense, he can take on almost anyone.
As Achiuwa's scoring and rebounding pick up, he has the potential to become the league's newest double double machine. The Kings have the roster to help make that happen.
There has been no indication that the Kings are interested in Achiuwa, though they should be. The current rumors are that the Heat want to bring him back. Hopefully, the Kings see the potential and make a play for the young star.
