Considering how bad the Sacramento Kings are this season, being one of the few teams to lose to them is kind of embarrassing. Well, the Houston Rockets now hold a unique NBA record in 2025-2026 by being the only team in the league to lose to the Kings twice.
In a twist no one saw coming, the Kings managed to play an entire 48-minute game without completely collapsing at some point in the second half. Even more confusing, the Kings actually dominated the fourth quarter of the game. That never happens this season.
Honestly, it was great to see. Despite only picking up four steals and one block as a team, the Kings actually played solid defense. Plus, they kept the offense moving throughout the entire game. It was one of Sacramento's better overall performances so far.
It was also their first win of 2026, which is both happy and sad at the same time. For the Rockets, it was all sad. Losing to the Kings is bad enough, but Houston is now the only team in the league to lose to Sacramento twice in 2025-2026. You do not want to be that team.
The Kings have the Rockets' number, apparently
Houston and Sacramento have now faced off three times this season, and the Kings are winning that series two to one. They have one more game on February 25th when Sacramento hits the road and heads to Texas. It would be nice to see them win this season series.
For the Rockets, this has to be a moment of self-reflection. They just got outplayed by a team who was dead last in the Western Conference. Now, the Kings have moved back up to the 14th spot after this victory. No team wants to be the one handing multiple wins to possibly the worst in the NBA.
For the Kings, they really need to take a step back and look at what's working against the Rockets. Something is clicking when they faceoff with Houston, and they should be applying that to every other game. They're not going to beat OKC or the Pistons, but they might win more games.
Then again, maybe they don't want to. The more the Kings lose, the better the chance they have at collecting a top spot in the 2026 NBA Draft. Regardless, it was nice to see the Kings pick up a much-needed lead, and hopefully it isn't the last of the season. They do see the Rockets one more time.
