While the Sacramento Kings' fortunes have been rough for the last couple of seasons, the same cannot be said of their G League team. Last season, the Stockton Kings won the NBA G League Championship for the first time in the franchise's history.

For three straight years, the Stockton Kings were number one in the Western Conference in the regular season. They had records of 25 and 7 in 2022-2023, 24 and 10 in 2023-2024, and 22 and 12 in 2024-2025. It figures the year with the worst of the three records is the one with the championship.

The franchise has existed since 2008, but last season was the first time they won the Western Conference Finals and made it to the championship. It was a hard-fought victory, ultimately beating the Osceola Magic two games to one to win the title.

Trying out Jon Elmore

The Sacramento Kings' front office seems to be paying attention for once because they briefly signed Stockton Kings' Jon Elmore to an Exhibit 10 deal. It's a one-year, non-guaranteed deal that can be converted into another contract.

This allows an NBA franchise to give an intriguing G League prospect a chance to be part of the team during training camp and get a better look at him. And that was Jon Elmore for a brief moment, at least.

A journeyman basketball player, he has spent the past six years splitting his time between Europe and the G League. He played every regular season game for Stockton in 2024-2025, averaging 10.4 points per game, 3.5 rebounds per game, 5.1 assists per game, and 1.5 steals per game.

The Kings have since waived Elmore, likely leading to his Stockton Kings return. That's a boon to Stockton as Elmore played a big part in last year's championship run.
