The Kings could host a Heat reunion this season

No, it's not LeBron James and Dwayne Wade.

This isn't an attempt to mislead you. LeBron James is playing for the 76ers while Dwayne Wade is a commentary guy now. That being said, if the Sacramento Kings sign a returning Victor Oladipo, that would reunite him with Precious Achiuwa. That's a Miami Heat reunion could really help the Kings.

Sacramento picked up Achiuwa a few games into the 2025-2026 season. Surprisingly, no other team had signed him. Given his strong defensive presence and ability to deliver clutch performances on offense, Achiuwa is a solid guy to have on the roster, either as a starter or off the bench.

He certainly proved that last season with a very messy Kings team. Achiuwa turned out to be a stabilizing force, particularly for the Kings' trio of rookies. The four of them became known as the Beam Boys. This group made the Kings fun to watch as well as picking up a few late season wins.

Now, something similar might be happening with Oladipo. The veteran point guard and former All-Star is making his way back to the NBA after missing a couple of seasons due to injury. Sacramento is strongly considering signing him to help support and develop rookie point guard Darius Acuff Jr.

A Heat reunion that could light a fire under the Kings

Achiuwa was originally drafted by Miami in 2020, though he only played one season there before shipping out to the Raptors. Oladipo crossed paths with Achiuwa on the Heat when he was traded by the Rockets. He would only play for a few games before an injury knocked him out for the season.

Ultimately, Achiuwa and Oladipo only played a total of three games together in Miami, which was actually quiet unfortunate. In his heyday, Oladipo was one of the top defenders in the league. Partnering him with a defensive-minded rookie like Achiuwa could worked very well.

The reality of Oladipo's career is that it's been a story of injuries. By the time he had to take a step back, he was a much different player. But there is still potential for a strong defensive partnership with Achiuwa now, one that could help anchor the Kings on that end of the court.

Look, this isn't James and Wade taking the court together one more time. That's not happening. At the same time, Oladipo and Achiuwa working together to help rebuild a worn out Sacramento franchise could easily be a winning combination.
