After falling to one and four, the Sacramento Kings finally picked up their second win of the season against the Milwaukee Bucks. It was a rough game as things got physical and verbal on multiple occasions. This is good for the Kings because it shows they still have the passion to win.
At this point, the entire league is aware that the Kings have had a rough opening to the 2025-2026 season. That wasn't a surprise given the structure of the team and the lack of substantial changes in the offseason. It's going to be tough for the Kings until they are in a position to make some big moves.
Regardless, the team they have is still hitting the court every game and trying to make things work. They actually have a solid group of veterans in addition to some rather interesting rookies and players still in their first couple of seasons. There is potential there.
Keep in mind that the roster remains unbalanced, which is a part of the reason they still struggle on defense. The team is working to find a rhythm, something that can be a little disheartening when you're down in the standings. But the Kings' recent game with the Bucks showed they still have fire.
The Kings almost literally fought the Bucks
It was a tight game, with a final score of 135 to 133 in favor of the Kings. What made this win even more impressive was the fact that Giannis Antetokounmpo was on the court after missing some time due to injury. Sabonis actually did a reasonably good job holding him in check on defense.
The Kings were actually down 11 points after the first quarter, but clawed their way back to take control and ultimately win. That kind of game can bring out some big feelings on both teams, especially when Russell Westbrook is involved. He thrives in that kind of headspace.
Westbrook actually hauled Giannis down under the net, narrowly avoiding a flagrant call. That wasn't the only issue by far, as players were talking trash and fouling each other like crazy. That included the Bucks' Cole Anthony getting ejected after a pair of technical fouls.
It was actually good to see the Kings playing this hard to get the win. The fans need to know that the team hasn't given up despite the tough start. No one wants to watch a team that has given up running down the court and lose. If the team cares, the fans care, and the Kings definitely care.
