Not every college prospect has game, particularly in the conventional sense. In the case of someone like Alvaro Folgueiras, that actually works in his favor. He has an incredible combination skills and quirky style of play that makes him an interesting potential addition to the Sacramento Kings.

The power forward from Spain is currently playing for the University of Iowa after a couple of seasons with Robert Morris University. He built a reputation at Robert Morris as a dangerous rebounder, averaging 8.9 per game during his second season with the team.

Looking at Alavro's evolution at Robert Morris is interesting. He played 32 games in his first season, starting six of them. in season two, he played in 34 and started every single one of them. With that increased usage came a massive jump in points per game from 5.3 to 13.8. That's serious business.

Folgueiras isn't known for being particularly athletic, but he has his own style of movement that throws his opponents off their game. Plus, he has quick hands, which he puts to good use on defense with steals, blocks, and the aforementioned rebounds. He could be a huge power forward in the NBA.

Folgueiras could be a good addition to the Kings

With Kings hopefully beginning the much discussed rebuild soon, someone like Folgueiras would be a good draft pickup for the team. They are in need of stretch forwards with a strong 3&D mentality, which Alvaro certainly has. His three point percentage last season was 41.5.

What makes him so effective is his off ball movement at both ends of the court. At 6 feet 9 inches and 215 pounds, he uses his odd maneuverability to shape the opposing teams' defense, opening up opportunities for both himself and his teammates. Alvaro knows how to run a game.

That's due to his greatest assets. Specifically, his high basketball IQ as well as an understanding of the nuances of the game you would normally associate with a 10 year NBA veteran. This is someone who just seems to get basketball, and understands how to put the game to work for him.

Alvaro Folgueiras isn't going to go high in the draft because so much of what he brings to the table is disturbingly subtle. That's why the Kings need him. Having a cerebral and productive player like Alvaro who can hit the court running straight out of the draft is how you build towards a championship.
