With the NBA Draft less than a month away, the Sacramento Kings are bringing prospective picks in for workouts to assess them. The recent batch of rookies included Elias Ralph, a power forward who definitely stood out. Some are thinking he could be a key developmental addition to the Kings.

For the past few days, the Kings have been bringing groups of rookies down to Sacramento for pre-draft workout sessions. This is a major part of the process, especially for a franchise like the Kings. They have two second-round picks to decide what to do with this year.

The group the Kings hosted on May 27 included two point guards and four power forwards from across the college basketball scene. That's a good thing, as the Kings need to bring real depth to their wings. It's arguably a bigger problem than what's going on at point guard for them.

One of the names on Wednesday's list is Ralph, a Canadian power forward from Alberta who went third overall in the 2024 CEBL draft. Despite the fact that he looks like Gradey Dick with a veteran police officer's mustache, Ralph can apparently ball and is making an impression in Sacramento.

The Kings could be looking to the Great White North for talent

As it stands right now, Ralph doesn't seem to be on a lot of radars. He doesn't even appear on the most recent mock drafts, including the one FanSided issued post-combine. That doesn't mean that front offices aren't paying attention to him, including Scott Perry and his Sacramento crew.

The Kings seem more and more focused on drafting a point guard, specifically Darius Acuff Jr., with their number seven pick. If they do get Acuff, he'll do great things for the team. That doesn't fix their wing issues. Sacramento needs wings with elite scoring skills, and Ralph definitely fits the bill.

He is a full three-level scorer who shoots over 40% from three and quickly adapts to offensive adjustments from opponents. Plus, Ralph pulls down a ton of boards and is known as an elite rim defender, which is impressive for a 6'7" power forward. He's got the skills the Kings need.

Sacramento has to add forwards who can score, defend, and fit the long-term vision. After working out with the Kings, Ralph looks like a strong option. Even if they don't draft him, giving Ralph a two-way contract and having him spend some time in Stockton would be a good call.
