After commenting on how they don't fare well against great teams, the Sacramento Kings pulled off a quality win over the Houston Rockets (fifth in the Western Conference) on Saturday evening. Now, the Kings are winners of three straight heading into another conference showdown against the Dallas Mavericks.
But who will the Kings have available to them to them in this game? What about the Mavericks? Here is the full injury report ahead of this marquee matchup.
Sacramento Kings Injury Report
After a rocky start to the season in this category, the Sacramento Kings have been a pretty healthy team this season. Tonight won't be too different, as only one member of their main rotation is not playing tonight. Unfortunately, though, that one player is arguably their best/most important.
As you probably inferred from the headline, Domantas Sabonis is listed on the injury report after leaving Saturday's game early after straining his hamstring. Sabonis did not return, and an MRI revealed after the fact that Sabonis suffered a grade 1 strain, which means that he will be out for at least a week. So, the Kings could be without Sabonis for 3-4 games at the very least.
Being injured, even a minor one, is rare for Sabonis. Over the last two years, he only didn't play in three of 164 possible regular season games. This season, Sabonis has suited up for 56 of the Kings' 59 games before tonight.
Outside of Sabonis, Devin Carter and Isaiah Crawford will not be available for this game due to their G-League obligations.
Dallas Mavericks Injury Report
While the Kings are missing their best player, they can hardly complain when they look at the Mavericks' injury situation. Not only are they missing their starting center, but the Mavericks are also missing their backup and third center. That's right, the Mavericks will be without Anthony Davis (abductor), Dereck Lively II (ankle), and Daniel Gafford (knee) for this game.
The Mavericks will also be missing some key depth at wing/forward, as P.J. Washington (ankle) and Caleb Martin (hip) are both also out for this game. That means that the Mavericks will be missing five rotation players, while we will only be without one.
After this game, the Kings conclude their four-game road trip on Wednesday, March 5, against the Denver Nuggets.
