Worst Case Scenario

Lastly, there is every fan's worst nightmare. The season where absolutely nothing goes your way. In theory, similar to the best case scenario, the worst case is technically finishing with the worst record in the NBA (which wouldn't be too bad considering Cooper Flagg is projected to be in the 2025 NBA Draft). But, of course, that outcome is also only realistic for a handful of unfortunate teams. Thankfully, the Kings are not one of those teams.

For the Kings, the ultimate nightmare would be missing the playoffs and not even qualifying for the play-in (meaning that they weren't even a top 10 team in the West). For this to happen, the Kings will have either lost a ton of key players to injury or overestimated their standing in the Western Conference hierarchy.

Between those two situations, the more depressing reason would be the latter. If your season fizzles out because of injuries (see the 2023-24 Memphis Grizzlies), you can at least talk yourself into the following season being better. But if the Kings are just flat-out bad, it will tell us that we invested money in a core that isn't really worth very much.

The good news here is that A LOT has to go wrong for us to get to his outcome, and considering how long the Kings have had poor luck, it seems like the team is due for a big break (or, at least, we hope).
