At this point, the Sacramento Kings seem to be the team of choice for any player looking for leverage against their current front office. When negotiations come up, those players build interest with the Kings to make it look like they have another option in the wings. It's happened more than once.

There are more than a few trades linked to the Sacramento trades in recent years that just aren't going to happen. At best, they are absolute long shots, even if they were real possibilities at first. Either way, these players just aren't going to join the Kings in the near future or at all.

John Collins

Conversations about bringing Collins to Sacramento have happened a couple of times over the years. Nothing ever materialized, and it's hard to envision that changing soon. The Pistons recently added him to their roster and see him as a key piece of a deeper playoff push going forward. There are nothing but unlikely scenarios where Detroit seriously considers trading Collins to Sacramento.

Jonathan Kuminga

Both Kuminga and his management team have been stoking the rumor mill for over a year. It all started with his Warriors negotiations, followed him to the Hawks, and continues with the Wolves. That's three teams in 12 months, always with the Kings lurking in the background. It's impossible to say if this is going to ever happen, but leaving the Wolves for the Kings feels really unlikely.

Ja Morant

This is a trade that all Sactown fans should be happy never went down. Once you get past Morant's flashy style on the court, there isn't much substance there. Plus, he's become a toxic locker room presence. He might be able to rehab both his game and his image in Portland, but only time will tell. The Kings were linked to him several times leading up to his Blazers move. Didn't happen, never will.

Pascal Siakam

Before the star forward left the Raptors for the Pacers, there were serious conversations with Toronto about bringing him to Sacramento. Unless the Kings make an undeniable offer to the Pacers, Siakam's not leaving any time soon. He's become an integral part of their roster. And with Tyrese Haliburton making his return this season, they need Pascal more than ever.

Jalen Duren

Honestly, I believe that Sacramento was legitimately on Duren's radar to an extent. I also don't think he planned on leaving Detroit, but would have signed with the Kings if he had been given an opening. Unless the Pistons have a complete 180, there is nothing Sacramento has as a trade offer to convince Detroit to part with this rising star. The Pistons already refused their best offers.
