After a long weekend of golf in Stateline, Nevada, Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry won the American Century Championship tournament. The tournament ran three days and saw many highlights, such as Curry’s day two hole-in-one, as well as NBA legend Charles Barkley giving praise to the Sacramento Kings.

Curry narrowly won under the tournament’s modified Stableford scoring system, where players receive points for doing better on a hole and lose points for doing worse.

After nailing an impressive eagle on the 18th hole to win the tournament, Steph Curry had this to say about attending Sacramento Kings fans in a post-match press conference:

"“There were a lot of Kings fans and surprisingly they were [louder] than Warrior fans. I heard a lot of ‘Light the beam!’ I heard a lot of ‘Let’s go Kings’… That gave me a little gas in the tank.”"

The playful shot at Kings fans comes after a day-one interview with Curry, where he noted how vocal Kings fans were:

The recent history of the Sacramento Kings and Golden State Warriors saw the Warriors defeat the Kings in game 7 of the opening round of the 2023 NBA playoffs, where Curry had a generational 50-point game 7 record performance.

There isn’t any real bad blood between the Kings and the Warriors despite the drama between Draymond Green and Domantas Sabonis in game two of the NBA playoffs. We even saw Kings guard De’Aaron Fox walk the 18th hole with Curry’s group on Saturday:

While Curry reserves the right to take playful shots at the Kings after a phenomenal playoff performance, the Kings look to bounce back next year and contend for an NBA title.

It’s good to see fans making their presence known even outside of Sacramento, and carrying that spirit into next season will only lead to one phrase at the end of each game: Light the Beam!
