While the Sacramento Kings are in the middle of a busy offseason, the young guys are looking forward to playing some basketball. Starting on July 3rd, the Kings will be headlining the California Classic Summer League in Sacramento. Hosted inside the Golden 1 Center, home of the Sacramento Kings, the young Kings will get a chance to play on Sacramento’s court.

The six teams involved in the California Classic Summer League are the Sacramento Kings, Los Angeles Lakers, Golden State Warriors, Miami Heat, San Antonio Spurs, and Charlotte Hornets.

The Summer League is a great opportunity for young players to showcase their skills, especially when they do not get a chance in the regular season. We will see many rookies playing their first NBA-caliber game, including the newest members of the Sacramento Kings.

While the number one pick in the 2023 NBA Draft, Victor Wembanyama, has opted out of playing in the California Classic Summer League, he will debut in the next round of Summer League games in Las Vegas. While we will not see the number one pick play in Sacramento, the number two pick, Brandon Miller, will make his first NBA appearance on July 3rd in Golden 1 Center.

The Sacramento Kings California Classic Summer League roster is headlined by the 2nd-year forward Keegan Murray. After winning the 2022 Summer League MVP, Murray will return to the Summer League, as the Kings made up their minds about wanting to see more out of him.

The other returners on this roster include Kessler Edwards, Keon Ellis, and Neemias Queta. After the Kings recently picked up Edwards’ team option for next season, the 22-year-old forward will have more opportunities to showcase his skills. Ellis and Queta are both entering qualifying offer years, so giving them a more prominent chance to play in the Summer League could help the future of their careers.

The two drafted rookies, Colby Jones and Jalen Slawson, are a part of the roster, as they will get their first opportunity to play in a Kings jersey. The second-round selections are both ready to make an impact in the California Classic Summer League. Rookie Colby Jones has proven to be a well-rounded stud with a high work ethic.

The rest of the roster is made up mostly of undrafted prospects or one-year veterans, as we will take a look at the whole roster.

Guards: Souley Boum, Keon Ellis, Jordan Ford, Dane Goodwin, Colby Jones

Forwards: Kessler Edwards, Aleem Ford, Keegan Murray, Justyn Mutts, Alex O’Connell, Jalen Slawson

Centers: Chance Comanche, Mike Daum, Neemias Queta, Jake Stephens

Underlined: Projected Starters

This Sacramento Kings California Classic Summer League roster is full of talent as the Kings look to make a splash and allow these young guys to showcase their skills.

This squad will be coached by Luke Loucks, an assistant coach for the Sacramento Kings, as he also gets the opportunity to showcase his head coaching skills.
