Will the Sacramento Kings be active on the buyout market?

The more appropriate wording to our second question could be ‘How active will the Sacramento Kings be in the buyout market?’ Making a move or two here would mean all defensive improvements don’t necessarily have to come from within.

That would give Sacramento a more realistic chance of improving defensively. Additionally, if the Kings are able to find the right piece(s) on the buyout market their lack of trade deadline involvement would make a lot more sense.

It’s the one saving grace for frustrated fans after the deadline. It could present McNair as a very savvy GM if he can add helpful talent to the roster and passed on giving up any assets for help via trade.

We won’t know how the buyout market is shaping up for a few more days at the minimum. Due to the extremely high number of trades that went down, though, it’s safe to assume there will at least be a strong buyout market.

Are the Kings currently prepping for the players that could potentially become available? They should be. The hope is the front office isn’t content with what they have despite their lack of deadline dealing.

Now that they won’t be moving any significant assets or talent to add a player, the Kings should be looking for the kind of additions that will help them get back to the NBA Playoffs. That can be found on the buyout market.

It shouldn’t be long before we know whether or not McNair is eyeing the buyout market for some help. The top players that get bought out any given year tend to sign with appealing championship contenders. Even if the Kings are monitoring the market closely, they have some work to do in order to sign potential targets.
