Moves by Kings McNair that finally flipped the Franchise: Bold trade to bring in Domantas Sabonis
Many had strong feelings about the blockbuster trade Monte McNair made that brought Domantas Sabonis to Sacramento but gave up the young and talented Tyrese Haliburton. It didn’t make a ton of sense people claimed and was evidence the Kings were still the Kings we all have watched make mistake after mistake in recent years.
This season, Sabonis is playing at an all-star level and has become one of the most impactful offensive bigs in the entire NBA. Some won’t get behind his game. Never have and never will.
If this season hasn’t been enough to show how gifted he is, he never will show them. For Kings fans and those who watch this team, it is quite clear he is the elite talent Fox needs alongside him to turn the franchise around.
They have done exactly that and they still haven’t played a ton of minutes together on the court. Things are still a work in progress, which should be scary for the rest of the NBA.
McNair went out on a limb giving up such a promising young talent in Haliburton. With the Pacers, he has had arguably an all-star-worthy season and he is on his way to a long and great NBA career. What the Kings needed more than him, though, was Sabonis to come in and team up with Fox and Mike Brown to turn the franchise around.
