All-Star favorites Domantas Sabonis is outplaying: Paul George and Anthony Davis

Another result that isn’t shocking when you remember this is a popularity contest, Sabonis is behind two players playing in the massive Los Angeles market. One from each of the Los Angeles Clippers and Los Angeles Lakers.

George, of the Clippers, is sixth in fan voting. He once again has solid numbers on the season so far but they are short of what we all know he is capable of. Not only that, but George has played in ten fewer games this season than Sabonis.

While George has produced good numbers, Sabonis has put up outstanding numbers. George hasn’t been the player he is capable of while Sabonis has inspired a franchise turnaround in Sacramento.

Davis, on the other hand, has been the superstar he is advertised as. He even had a stretch that saw him catapult his name onto the fringes of the MVP candidate list. That ended when he went down with a significant injury, though. That injury and missed time, as Davis has played almost 20 fewer games than Sabonis, are big reasons why he should not be higher than Sabonis.

It isn’t the only reason, though. The Kings have been much more successful on the season than the Lakers. That is behind the play of Sabonis, as we have stated already. Sabonis has been the best player on a much better team without LeBron James next to him.

As things stand today, Sabonis leads the league in rebounding and has been a triple-double machine all season, yet isn’t on pace to earn an all-star game spot according to the fan voting.
