All-Star favorites Domantas Sabonis is outplaying: Kevon Looney, Draymond Green and Andrew Wiggins

Domantas Sabonis trails three Golden State Warriors after the third round of fan voting. Kevon Looney is 9th in votes, Draymond Green is 8th and Andrew Wiggins is 5th.

It’s not shocking that the Warriors continue to make their presence felt in terms of NBA fan voting. They are the defending champions and have made their mark on this era of NBA basketball. With that being said, these voting numbers are flat-out offensive when you realize that all three of Looney, Green and Wiggins currently rank ahead of Sabonis.

As things stand today, the Warriors are in a tight battle for the 10th and final play-in spot in the western conference. Things could certainly change in the standings. The Warriors have already dealt with several injuries this year, but the Kings are playing significantly better basketball than them.

Most importantly, the Kings are being led by Sabonis while the three Warriors are role players on their team. It’s not even close when you look at individual production between Sabonis and the three Golden State players.

This voting tally is strictly a result of team popularity. None of Wiggins, Green or Looney are comparable to Sabonis in terms of on-court impact or production so far this year.

Career-long impact? Sure, one could show the kind of respect for Draymond that is being shown here. That isn’t what this voting is about, though, and fans are running dangerously close to getting this entirely wrong.
